We are delighted to offer for sale this very interesting Morris Eight Tourer – an affordable car offering plenty of space for four people, and even a dog! The car has a very interesting history, well documented by extensive paperwork, including invoices, lots of old MOT certificates, buff-coloured log book, and details of its restoration back in the 1970s. The current owner has even put together a list of previous owners, all the way back to 1943. There is also an original handbook, together with a Morris Register manual. Originally, the car began life as a saloon, and was rescued from a field by the restorer of the car in 1970 – we have the bill of sale from this transaction – the princely sum of £9 changed hands. The bodywork at this stage, was so bad that a comprehensive rebuild was undertaken, and the car was converted to a tourer, using all original parts. The engine is one of the Series I engines used by the military – these were surplus to requirements once the Centurion tanks were discontinued. It has been very well maintained over the years, and is in pretty good fettle, finished in Primrose Yellow with dark blue wings and blue Rexine interior. The underside is structurally good and tidy, the paintwork is generally satisfactory, but has some age-related blemishes – all adds to the charming patina. Good weather gear including hood, matching side screens and hood cover. The car starts easily and drives well, with a nice gearbox – no clunks!! It has covered only 15,500 miles from 1981, has been featured in three BBC documentaries and has worked 75 weddings!! A terrific old car with a very interesting history – one to cherish and enjoy.
