1935 Austin Seven Race Car

We are very pleased to have been asked to sell this well-known Austin Seven race car, fondly known as Murtyl.  If you ‘google’ Chris Pearson Austin 7 Race Car, you will find a number of images of the car in action.  The car was built during 2014 -15 by Pigsty Racing, Austin Seven experts.  It was constructed around a short wheel-base model, with aluminium body by Yates, and race engine, built by Keith Dobson, to include pressure-fed crankshaft by Peter Pearson of Leyburn, SU carburettor, and electric water pump.  Apparently, the crankshaft is constructed of the same material as a Formula One car.  The car has a sports front axle, with twin shockers and runs on 15” wheels, currently fitted with Dunlop race tyres.  It has been raced for several years in France, with the 750 Motor Club in England, and at other prestigious events such as the AMOC Brands Hatch meeting in 2015, where it won the race, beating, in the rain, a mighty field of Bentleys, Lagondas, Astons etc and at an average speed of a tad under 60mph.  Many races were with Motor Racing Legends where it won its handicap on the full Brands Hatch Circuit.  Behind the seat, as you can see, is a partial list of dates and finish positions, which is pretty impressive for such a little car!  Furthermore, you will notice the names all over the car – these are, in the main, names of SOE agents, brave operatives who risked (and often gave) their lives behind enemy lines during the Second World War.  One of the names, Murtyl, is the name of a character featured in a series of novels by the car’s current owner, and a set of these books comes with the car.   Also comes with a bundle of paperwork, and two very nice framed presentation montages (see photograph). This is a serious car, for serious racing, so serious enquiries only, please (it’s not the sort of car you would want to take your mother out for tea in ..!!)

You can now view a short video of this car in action on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
