1938 MG TA – £19,950

1938 MG TA

This is a really nice example of the ever-popular MG TA, looking stunning in its Royal Blue livery.  The car is in good order, and was obviously the subject of a restoration some years ago.  More recently, around 2007, the original type MPJG 1292cc engine was rebuilt, and a new clutch was fitted.  The car was professionally resprayed to a high standard in 2011, along with new chromework, and in 2013 a new, quality double-duck hood, side screen and half tonneau were added.  The car also has a full length vinyl tonneau which is in good order.  All four tyres have been replaced recently with Longstones.   Apart from the restoration work, the car has been very well maintained and there is a good sized file of paperwork which includes invoices dating back to 1984, MOT certificates dating back to 1983, instruction manual, lubrication chart and other maintenance bulletins.  The interior, which is in good order, has a lovely patina and the correct door cards with pockets have been fitted.  The car starts easily and runs and drives just as a TA should.  Good oil pressure, lively performance for a car of this period and original type steering – and the car has flashing indicators.  There is a chrome rear boot rack as you can see.  The underside and under bonnet areas are all clean and tidy.  This is a great, fun car, at a realistic price.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for other interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1969 MGC GT with Overdrive – £18,995

1969 MGC GT with Overdrive

First registered in January 1969, this is a particularly nice example of the iconic MGC, and in this case, the very useable GT version.  Finished in the original colour of Mineral Blue, with black leather interior, recently repainted wire wheels and overdrive – the ideal combination.  The car was the subject of an extensive restoration over a number of years, finally completed around 2003 and properly maintained ever since.  The renovation included bodywork, repaint, overhaul of the mechanics including engine (unleaded), and by the looks of it, new headlining and door cards.  The original black leather seats have been retained.  The bodywork is still very good, with excellent paintwork – only a few age-related blemishes.  The car starts easily, the engine ticks over nicely, and once warmed up, provides a nice smooth drive with plenty of power and good handling.  Good gearbox, clutch, back axle and suspension.  A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted at some stage, together with electronic ignition.  The overdrive works well, nice and smooth, so all in all, everything is in good order.  The engine bay is very clean and tidy, the wheels and tyres are in good order and the underside is clean and sound.  There is a large paperwork file covering the extensive works carried out over the years, and including the history of the car, registration documents, old MOT certificates, old invoices dating back many years, original handbook and MOT certificate to September 2026.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for other interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1969 MGC GT with Overdrive – £16,750

1969 MGC GT with Overdrive

MGCs are marvellous cars to own (we have had one a number of years, and love it), and this particular example has an interesting history.  It was first dispatched to University Motors, the well-known MG distributor on 12 November 1969, then subsequently sold by them in December 1970 … during this period, the car was cosmetically improved, to include a change of colour to its current Black Tulip, with roof section in black vinyl and with a full length folding Webasto sunroof.  We think the walnut dashboard was probably fitted at that stage, and the car came with wire wheels, heated rear window and yes – a heater!  Furthermore, legend has it that only two cars to this specification were ever sold by University Motors and that one of these was at some stage owned by Dave Lee Travis (remember him?!) – and this one, we are told, by Anthony Hamilton. The car was restored approximately ten years ago and the accompanying file includes a photographic record – this included bodywork and respray and a refresh of the interior.  The car is in very good structural order, the paintwork polishes up quite nicely, with one or two areas requiring a little cosmetic improvement.  The inside is good, including the  nice, leather seats, and the headlining is also good.  The part-vinyl roof and Webasto sunroof are again, in good order, the chromework is good but not perfect and the wire wheels are all excellent.  The underneath is clean and tidy and very sound and the suspension and brakes work very well.  These six-cylinder engines provide plenty of power and bags of torque, so very good to drive and this particular example has overdrive, which works very smoothly.  All in all, an excellent MGC, ready for daily use.  Comes with large paperwork file, V5C, Heritage Certificate and MOT.

1971 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1971 MGB GT with Overdrive

This is a very good example of the ever-popular and very usable MGB GT, well finished in Blaze with black interior.  There is a very large and very detailed history file with the car, some of which we will describe here.  The car was first registered on 16th April 1971 and by 1975, had covered around 25,000 miles at which point, it was purchased by its second (lady) owner, who kept the car until 1990, and having homes in South Africa and the UK, she used the car in both countries.  By 1980, it had covered 47,000 miles, and by 1990, it reached 86,000.  The car was then unused until 2006, when it was sold at auction as a car in need of full restoration.  Over the ensuing six years, it was extensively restored bodily and mechanically before being sold to a collector who, with the help of an engine specialist, carried out a lot of tuning work to the engine, including rebore to 1950cc, balancing, re-porting and fitting double-cut valve seats etc – together with the fitting of electronic ignition.  It is suggested in the file that this engine produced around 120 BHP, although we have no technical data to support this.  Then, in 2020, a new speedometer was fitted and we believe that the overall mileage from new is now 110,000.  Since 2020, recent works include a full respray, re-padding of seats, replacement of carpets and door cards and further improvements to the mechanics, including an overhaul of the brake system and the fitting of a servo unit.  The car has also been Waxoyled during this time, and has a walnut dashboard, Motolita steering wheel, and chrome interior door pulls.  The car has Rostyle wheels with excellent matching tyres all round, the latter fitted at the end of 2020.  The underside is very clean and tidy, and the engine bay is well detailed; the condition of the boot area is good.  This is a very well-driving car, with bags of power, light steering, good handling, nice gearbox and smooth overdrive – a very good example, not to be missed.  Comes with V5C, MOT certificate to 15th April 2027, lots of paperwork as mentioned above, photographs and DVDs of the restoration.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for other interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

1968 MGC Roadster with Overdrive – SOLD

1968 MGC GT with Overdrive

This is an absolutely superb example, in fact one of the best, of the highly desirable and powerful MGC.  This example, in Roadster form, was first registered on 1st August 1968, and according the Heritage Certificate, came with overdrive, wire wheels, heater and fold-away hood.  The car was originally sold by Mann Egerton of Norwich, then later, underwent a complete restoration in 1995/96 by British Classic Investments, for the owner of the car – a wealthy business man who used the car for display purposes.  This included a fully body renovation, renovation of mechanics and upholstery, all to a very high standard, as you can see.  During this ownership, the car was kept in a dehumidified barn, and was maintained by a local garage, owned by an ex-University Motors employee.  It was sold on a few years later, then once again to another wealthy custodian, who kept it in his extensive private collection until 2023.  It is now in truly excellent condition, even the underside is gloss painted to match the bodywork.  The bodywork is pretty much unmarked, the mechanics are in excellent condition, all working well and the interior of the car is almost like new including leather, original-style seats, dashboard, carpets, etc.  The car has electronic ignition and starts quickly, and the engine provides of plenty of power with strong oil pressure and no over-heating.  The gearbox is nice and tight and the overdrive is smooth.  The wiring is all in A1 condition as are the fuel lines, brake pipes etc.  Recently, it has had new tubes and Blockley tyres, and a full overhaul of the braking system, including new discs, callipers and pads at the front.  It has a vinyl hood and tonneau cover, both in good order.  Paperwork includes aforementioned Heritage Certificate, lots of old MOT certificates, magazine articles about the car, and original sales brochure, will come with new MOT certificate.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for other interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.
