1938 MG TA – £22,950

1938 MG TA

We are very pleased to offer for sale this super example of the highly desirable pre-war TA Midget.  This car was first registered in October 1938 and comes with a comprehensive history file, which includes a photograph album charting its complete restoration over a 26 year period from 1974 to 2000.  Originally finished in Saxe Blue (in our opinion not the best colour for a T Type), it was repainted during its restoration in the current, more attractive colour scheme which is reminiscent of the earlier pre-war MGs.  The restoration work carried out was extensive, including a total strip-down, new body tub and rebuild of all mechanicals to include engine and gearbox rebuild.  A new wiring loom was fitted.  Much of this work was carried out by a well-known MG restorer, Andy King and the beautiful, mostly leather interior was provided by Collingburn.  The car remains in excellent condition including paintwork, interior and underside.  The bespoke canvas hood, side screens, and full and half tonneau covers are pretty much like new.  The spoked wheels are in good condition.  All the dials are correct and seem to be working (not sure about the clock) and there is even the original reserve petrol switch, slow running cable and fully fitted tool box.  The doors on this car do fit very well.  Driving this car is great fun, with an easy start-up, nice gearbox and clutch, and good brakes for a pre-war car.  The large file of paperwork includes V5C and continuation book, along with a useful lubrication chart, wiring diagram etc.

1954 MG TF 1500 – £23,950

1954 MG TF 1500

Owned by the previous keeper for 33 years, this lovely 1500cc MG TF in Almond Green, is in very good order throughout.  Although we don’t have much history on this car, it is obvious that it has undergone a comprehensive restoration and that it has been well maintained ever since.  The 1500 TF is highly desirable, and is definitely the best of the T Types for everyday usage.  This car starts easily and drives very well indeed, with good performance, strong engine, excellent gearbox, back axle and suspension.  We have just fitted four brand new Continental tyres onto the chrome wire wheels which are again, in excellent order.  The paintwork is very good with just a few age-related blemishes, the underside is as clean as a whistle, as is the under-bonnet area.  The interior is in good order and to the original specification, and the canvas hood, side screens  and tonneau cover are all first class.  The car will come with a new MOT.  We have a continuation book from 1964 and current V5C.

1972 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1972 MGB GT with Overdrive

First registered in February 1973 (built in November 1972), this MGB is in fine fettle, with good bodywork, excellent paintwork in Nightfire Red, and mainly good interior with only a few areas to maybe improve – good headlining.  We are unsure when the car was repainted in its current colour, but we have a good history file showing extensive restoration a number of years ago.  The door gaps are good, tailgate and bonnet fit well, and the underside is tidy, as is the engine bay.  It has a replacement Ivor Searle engine which we understand is unleaded.  The car starts easily, has good oil pressure and drives very well with excellent performance, quiet back axle and gearbox, and properly working overdrive.  Electronic ignition has been fitted.  New brake discs have been fitted recently, the matching tyres have not covered many miles, and the part-chrome Rostyles are in fairly good condition.  Electric power steering has been fitted which makes for lighter steering.  There is a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate, V5C and MOT to 31st July 2024, and photographs of the restoration in the aforementioned history file.  A nice MGB for not a lot of money.  There is a short video of this car in action on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

1966 MGB Roadster with Overdrive – SOLD

1966 MGB Roadster with Overdrive

Just out of long-term ownership (20 years), this is a delightful early MGB, finished in one of the favourite colours – British Racing Green, with black leather interior, wire wheels and overdrive.  All is in good condition, having been restored many years ago, including body structure, then refreshed in 2021, including a professional respray.  The interior of the car is very nice indeed, with recent carpets, good door cards, and original dashboard that has not been ‘messed about with’.   The car comes with original works hard top, and a quality bespoke, double-duck hood and tonneau, all fitting extremely well.  The underside of the car is clean and tidy, as are the under-bonnet and boot areas.  The wire wheels are in excellent condition and are fitted with four matching tyres.  We have just given the car a complete tune-up, so it starts and runs well, and gives bags of performance – in fact, this is one of the nicest driving MGBs we have had for some time.  The car handles well, the gearbox and overdrive are smooth and the back axle is quiet.  There is a large file of paperwork showing that the car has been well serviced and maintained throughout its history, lots of old MOTs and workshop manual.  Comes with V5C and MOT to April 2025.

1959 MGA – with a difference … SOLD

1959 MGA

This is a truly excellent example of a 1959 MGA Roadster, beautifully finished in Chariot Red with light tan interior.  This car began life as a 1600 model, but now sports an 1800 MGB engine with 5-speed gearbox.  The car was completely restored by a motor engineer between 2019 and 2021 to a very good standard, and as my mother would have said ‘it’s  just like new’!!  The paint finish is excellent, the panel fit is good, the chromework is new, and the interior of the car is high quality, including the leather-fronted seats.  The underside of the car is just as good as the top.  The car sits on chrome wire wheels with matching quality Vredestein tyres, including the spare.  All the suspension was restored, resulting in a comfortable ride and good handling.  The extra power of the MGB engine with its Peter Burgess fast road cylinder head and cam, and the 5-speed gearbox make for a truly exhilirating drive.  Everything works as it should, with no strange noises from the transmission.  The hood, tonneau cover and side screens (still in their box) are all brand new, and fit well.  The paperwork file includes lots and lots of invoices covering the restoration, V5C, Heritage Certificate, MOT to October 2024 and memory stick containing details of the rebuild.
