This is a very original specification, early MGB, complete with Heritage Certificate showing that the car was built in Abingdon in August 1967.  Originally an American export, this car returned to the UK in the early 2000s, and was then extensively restored by a retired garage owner.  Coming from the right area of the USA, it was pretty much rust-free, but required mechanical and cosmetic restoration.  The car changed hands to the current owner in 2013, and the completion of the rebuild and improvement occurred over the next few years.  It is now in very good condition with excellent bodywork, paintwork and trim, which was replaced during the restoration.  The underside is clean and sound, and the engine bay and spare tyre compartment are clean and tidy.  The wire wheels are in good condition.  The car starts easily and the engine provides very good performance, mated to its four-speed gearbox.  Good oil pressure.  Internally, the seats, dashboard, door cards and carpets are all in good order – the headlining would benefit from a little bit of attention, but doesn’t need replacing.  Accompanying paperwork includes Heritage Certificate, old MOT certificates, garage invoices and a handwritten account of all the work carried out.  This is a good value, early car.

We are very pleased to offer for sale this terrific example of the ever-popular MG TC.  We can tell you that it is an absolute delight to drive.  The car was restored in 2019 to an excellent standard, including full body strip down and paint, new upholstery and overhaul of all mechanics including the fitting of a slightly tuned XPAG engine by George Edney.  Modifications to the engine include fast road cam, balanced fly-wheel, Arolight pistons, modified cam followers, and reboring of the block to 1346cc – the result is much improved power.  The gearbox was fully rebuilt at the same time.   On the road, this 1346cc car behaves very well and has been fitted with the well-known modification of a VW steering box, which greatly improves the steering – and we now go along in a straight line!!  The car sits on four nearly-new Blockley tyres on excellent wire wheels.  As you can see from the photographs, the car has been fitted with telescopic dampers – an early, after-market modification.  The overall condition is very good indeed, with excellent paintwork, unmarked interior, canvas hood and side screens (hardly used) and a very clean and tidy underside.  Comes with V5C and large file of paperwork including receipts, old MOTs etc.

A superb little car, ideal for shows or an every-day runaround.  First registered in Ayrshire in April 1955, it has covered only 22,569 miles – supported by the paperwork.  Apparently, it appeared in episodes of ITV’s ‘Heartbeat’ series, and before then spent many years in a garage showroom for advertising purposes, and then a few years as a museum exhibit.  This car is in very good condition with good black paintwork – just a few small blemishes – and a lovely red interior, we think the seats have been re-covered at some stage.  The under-bonnet area is just as you would expect from a car of this mileage, as is the boot area, and the underside is clean, tidy and structurally good.   As far as we can tell, the bodywork is all original and extremely good, so all the panels, including the doors, fit properly.  The car runs very well indeed and is a delight to drive, with good performance, gearbox, back axle, brakes and steering.  These small and simple fifties cars really are a lot of fun for little money.  Comes with four extra wheels with brand new tyres.  Paperwork includes the original registration document, old MOT certificate, invoices and workshop manual.
