1979 MG Midget 1500 – SOLD – more MG Midgets wanted

1979 MG Midget 1500

What a beautiful little car this Midget is – and it comes with a tremendous history file.  The car was extensively restored between 2002 and 2008, involving a complete strip-down of the whole car, including bodywork, mechanics, upholstery etc.  It was rebuilt with numerous new parts (so no doubt thousands of pounds were spent), whilst retaining as much of the original car as possible.  It has been well maintained ever since and is in splendid condition throughout, with only a few age-related blemishes on the bodywork and hardly any wear to the interior which is very smart indeed – black reclining seats with red piping and lovely complimentary dashboard. The black carpets are also very good, as are the door cards.  The vinyl hood looks to be brand new and there is a well fitting tonneau cover and hood cover.  The boot area is properly painted, so nice and shiny, and the engine bay is nicely detailed – no black underseal here!  Likewise, the underside is clean and tidy and structurally very good, and the alloy wheels are in good condition and fitted with quality Yokohama tyres.  The cockpit is very comfortable, the car starts and drives well, with plenty of power – no strange noises from the gearbox or axle – and good handling as you would expect from a Midget – great fun, just like a go-kart!  The paperwork file includes details and photographs of the rebuild, old registration documents, MOT certificates, workshop manual etc.  Comes with MOT certificate to February 2027 and will come newly serviced.

In addition to the walk-round video below, we will post a video of the car in action, when the weather improves.

1971 MGB Roadster with Overdrive – SOLD

1971 MGB Roadster with Overdrive

We are pleased to offer for sale this very fine example of the iconic MGB.  This car was first registered in March 1971 and offers everything you would want from a roadster.  Finished in surely one of the favourite colours, British Racing Green, with oatmeal interior, it stands on Minator knock-on alloy wheels and comes with the highly desirable overdrive.  The car was rebuilt onto a new Heritage shell in the year 2000 and we understand that at some stage an Oselli 1950cc tuned engine (possibly Stage II) was fitted.  The car is in excellent condition throughout with good paintwork – only a few minor blemishes – and a very nice interior, with leather-faced seats, matching door trims, dashboard top and carpets, all in good order.  The under-bonnet area is also good, and well finished in the same colour as the car.  The underside is clean and tidy and the structure appears to be up-to-the-mark,  the vinyl hood fits well, has no damage and the windows are all very clear.  The boot area is nicely carpeted, as you can see.  The matching tyres all have plenty of tread.  The car starts easily, and the engine provides bags of power with good oil pressure. Performance is very good, gear change is smooth as is the overdrive, and the back axle is quiet.  The car has recently been converted to power steering, which makes it much easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces – a very good modification. This is an excellent car which we think will give you great pleasure to drive.  Paperwork includes a file of invoices, MOT certificates, V5C and workshop manual, and will be put through an MOT prior to sale.  Genuine reason for sale.

2000 MGF – one owner, low mileage – SOLD

2000 MGF

This is a little gem and you will probably not find another like it – a one lady-owner car from new, having covered only 31,620 miles, with full service history to support this mileage.  This is an extremely attractive car, finished in the quite rare colour of Anthracite (described as very dark metallic grey, but to our eye with a very dark blue undertone).  The dark grey, patterned cloth interior (so no sticky seats in the summer!) and black carpets compliment the colour scheme, and there is a quality black canvas hood.  The condition of this car is exceptional for its age, with very good paintwork, well cared-for interior, very clean and tidy bonnet area and boot – together with an underside that can only be described as ‘clean as a whistle’.  Excellent structure including sub-frame etc.  Everything works as it should do, and the car drives just as you would expect for such low mileage – driving it is a delight, with nice gearbox (no clunks or bangs) and very good performance from the responsive 1.8 engine.  Good alloy wheels, tyres and exhaust.  This is a car ready for immediate use and comes with MOT certificate to July 2026.  Good file of paperwork includes all service records with fully stamped manufacturer’s service portfolio, original sales invoice from Appleyard’s, original handbook.  Not to be missed – serious enquiries only please.

In addition to the walk-round video below, we will post a video of the car in action, when the weather improves.

1985 Citroen 2CV ‘Dolly’ – SOLD

1985 Citroen 2CV Dolly

We have sold a few Citroen 2CVs over the years and must say, this is the best we have ever seen. It was restored to exacting standards between 2018 and 2021 from an abandoned ‘field find’. The extensive restoration, which included many, many parts – too many to list – resulted in a better-than-new car and it has been well maintained by its owners, who between them, have had a wealth of experience with these cars. Everything about the car has been well done, including the first class, original specification paint job in its original and quite rare red and grey. The interior and folding canvas roof are both like new, and the boot and engine bay again, are in lovely condition. The underside, including its new galvanised chassis and fully restored mechanics is of course, very good and the engine itself, which again, was fully rebuilt, runs like a sewing machine, giving plenty of power for the car to run along in modern traffic. The gearbox, which came from a Citroen Ami (apparently a stronger box than the original) has been rebuilt and fitted. Other major items included new braking system, exhaust, clutch, shockers, tyres, ignition … the list goes on. Driving the car is great fun and the unusually-positioned Citroen gear lever is a joy to use. There is bags of space in this car for all the family and a good-sized luggage – to boot!! Comes with MOT to August 2026 with no advisories, V5C, USB memory stick detailing the restoration, workshop manual, handbook, and we also have a copy of the article from 2CV GB News monthly magazine from October 2021 covering the rebuild.

SOLD

1950 MG TD – SOLD

1950 MG TD

We are pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the long-term owner, this very nice MG TD, well finished in a typical MG red, with oatmeal-coloured interior.  The car was originally exported to Australia (from new) and returned to the UK in 1991 – we believe it was restored whilst in Australia and it remains in very condition.  Later in 1991, it was sold by Sotherby’s to our client’s family, in whose ownership it has remained ever since, some 34 years.  The bodywork is excellent with generally very good paintwork – only a few blemishes commensurate with its age – all the panels fit very well, and the door fit is probably the best we have seen on a T Type.  The interior is very good, with the exception of the carpets, which need renewing.  The seating, we think, is leather-faced, and is in first class condition as are the correct-style door cards.  The hood is in good condition, and has a glass rear window, the side-screens are also good, there is also a full length tonneau cover.  The underside is clean and tidy and structurally good.  The car runs and drives very well, with strong original engine (matching numbers) and gearbox, which was rebuilt in 2020 – a new clutch was fitted at the same time.  A stainless steel exhaust was fitted at some stage.  There is a comprehensive history file including service and maintenance records, showing that the car has been well cared for by its current owner.  A lovely car to drive, with good performance, with MOT to January 2027.    In addition to the walk-round video below, a video of the car in action will follow when the weather improves.

1979 MG Midget 1500 – SOLD

1979 MG Midget 1500

We are very pleased to be able to offer for sale this excellent MG Midget, very well presented in British Racing Green, with Autumn Leaf interior. This is a 1979 car, and as you can see, it has been very well converted from rubber to chrome bumpers, with the addition of Minilite-type alloy wheels. The conversion and renovation of the bodywork, including full re-paint, was completed around 2010 and the car has been very well maintained ever since.  The paperwork in the file shows that it has covered only 54, 000 miles from new, with a good long-term MOT history. The bodywork, which has been very well painted, is in very good condition, as is the underside of the car and the interior trim – excellent seats, carpets, door cards and dashboard. There is a vinyl hood, hood cover and full tonneau. This is a lovely car to drive, with plenty of performance from the 1500cc twin SU engine and a nice 4-speed gearbox. Good brakes, clutch, oil pressure, tyres, battery and new exhaust – in fact just ready to jump in and drive away. Lots of fun for little money. Comes with V5C, old V5, old MOTs, original Passport to Service and driver’s handbook and will come with new MOT.
